    Avram Noam Chomsky was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 7, 1928.

    At the age of 10 years old, Chomsky wrote an editorial in his school paper about fascism in Europe and the Spanish Civil War. This sparked a lifelong interest in politics which he continued to write about later on in life.

    Chomsky began college at the University of Pennsylvania. He almost quit school but then discovered linguistics which led to him achieving his bachelors, masters, and doctorate in the subject. During this time he met Zellig Harris who was his mentor and influence in creating "Syntactic Structures"

    Chomsky went against the ideas of Psychologist B.F. Skinner and created the theory that all humans are born with the "innate ability to realize the generative grammars that constitute every human language.". This then led to the publication of "Aspects of the Theory of Syntax" and "The Logical Structure of Linguistic Theory"
