  • College Life

    Noam received his Bachelors in Linguistics in 1949. He then went on to get his Masters in 1951 and eventually got his Doctorate in 1955.
  • "The Morphophonemics of Modern Hebrew." Thesis

    While in college. Noam Chomsky was influenced by Zellig S. Harris. Harris introduced Chomsky to Nelson Goodman. Nelson Goodman believed that the mind was a blank slate for learning languages.     Noam Chomsky was invited to become an active teacher at MIT in 1955. He worked actively in the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy until he retired in 2005
  • "Syntactic Structures"

    Syntactic Structures is the rules set up for sentence structure. It combines words and other elements to form grammatic sentences. Noam Chomsky wrote about this in one of his famous writings in 1957. This is where Chomsky wrote in depth about his belief that humans are born with the ability to realize generative grammar and learn language from this. This set the basis for his belief that children learn language by exposure.

    Noam Chomsky wrote “Aspects of the Theory of Syntax" to show his work and establish linguistic theory.
  • Structure of Linguistics

    In 1975 Chomsky supported his theory more by writing “The Logical Structure of Linguistic Theory”. Later on the study of cognitive science supported his his claims.
