    Noam Chomsky born in Philadelphia in 1928, his father, William Chomsky, was Ukrainian born Jew who fled to the United States in 1913 and attended John Hopkins University. His mother, Elsie Simonofsky, was an activist and educator. Both his parents we center left Democrats, however, he was influenced at a young age by many socialist family members.     The Life of Noam Chomsky

    Born in 1928, Noam Chomsky is an American Born linguist, philosopher, scientist,historian, activist, among many other things. He is known throughout the world as a leading expert on theoretical linguistics as well as philosophy. Today he is still active in politics and is a professor. He has greatly impacted many subjects and his life, particularly science where he created a new framework to study language and the mind. Note: Time Span Ends at 2018, Noam Chomsky is however, still alive.

    In 1945 at age 16, Chomsky began attending the University of Pennsylvania where he paid his tuition by teaching Hebrew. While there Chomsky's philosophies and ideas began to take shape, primarily when he met Zallig Harris who introduced him to theoretical linguistics. In 1951, he began attending Harvard University where he was greatly influenced by philosophers W.V. Quine and J.L. Austin. In 1955, Chomsky was awarded a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania based on a thesis he submitted.

    In 1955, while a junior fellow at Harvard, Chomsky published his signature work in regard to Philosophy of Science, The Logical Structure of Linguistic Theory. In it, Chomsky outlines his belief that science and language go hand in hand and that science, he believed the basic principles of all languages, as well as the ideas languages express, are innately represented in the human mind. He believed that language was learned through formal systems which exist in the mind.
