This was the German invasion of Britain, which didn't work out for them. They dropped bombs but could not get ground troops in, and their air force was beaten by the Royal air force of the British. -

Battle of the Coral Sea
The Japanese were looking to control the Coral Sea by attacking a port in there, but their plans were intercepted by Allied forces. -
Battle of Midway
In thanks to codebreaking, the United states were able to intercept a Japanese attack coming for their few remaining aircraft carriers, hurting the Japanese navy. -
Battle of Stalingrad
One of the bloodiest battles in history. Over 2 million casualties. -
Operation Gomorrah
This was not talked about specifically in the slides or in class, but I feel it is noteworthy and special. Operation Gomorrah was when the tables turned and the British bombed the City of hamburg. The firepower alone was the same amount as the combination of the 5 most destructive bombings of London. -
D-Day
This is the allied invasion of Normandy Beach and the movement on France. -

This was a German attack on the Western Front near the end of the war. It was at the "bulge" of the Allied war line. -

This is when the Allied forces liberated the Nazi concentration camp, the worst of them all. -

This was a battle in Japanese territory that was very important towards the allied war effort. -

This is when the first atomic bombs were dropped on Japanese cities when they refused to surrender. -

Allies take Rome and end the Itallian Campaign -
Germany Quits
Germany surrenders, making the Allied powers the victors of the war. -
Japan Surrenders
Japan surrenders to the United States, signing on a warship.
