Smith-Hughes Act
This act established funding for vocaional agriculture in high school. -
Virginia Participates
Viriginia became the first state to have Future Farmers Clubs for boys. -
FFA Becomes National
A network of teachers guided the establishment of FFA as a team effort to establish a club for boys with similar farm interests. -
NFA is Formed
New Farmers of America is formed for black students in the south. -
FFA Receives Federal Charter
FFA became one of a few student orgnaizations to recieve a Federal Charter from Congress (Public Law 740). -
FFA Merges with NFA
NFA and FFA merge together and become one big organization. -
FFA Allows Girls
For the very first time FFA allows girls into the organization. -
Name Change!
The name changed from Future Farmers of America (FFA) to National FFA Organization to reflect the growing diversity in the agriculture industry. -
National Convention Switches Up
The National Convention completes it's 7 year run in Indianapolis and returns to Louisville, Kentucky in 2013 for 3 years. The National Convention is an extremely large event and has to be held somewhere in which all those people can stay, this is the reasoning for the National Convention jumping states so many times.
