    After testing out with the monkey they tested out with a dog initially first named Kudryavka then later named Laika. Unfortunately the dog expired due to low oxygen on the 6th day of space.

    Sputnick 1 was first launched as a satelite into space by the U.S.S.R . The U.S.S.R's plan was to launch the first satelite to orbit the Earth and see essentially what their enemies the U.S.A, NASA where doing and then they would make an advancement .     After the failure of sending the dog Laika in space the scientists might have been more prepared about oxygen conditions and are probably have called succes for this event. This monkey survived and not only became the first animal survived in spaced it was the firwst living thing survived in space!

    Well after testing out to launch in space, the russians wanted to orbit the Earth and stay ahead. Yuri Gagarin (also the first man in space) was the first man to orbit the whole Eath!

    Now NASA wanted to get in the lead of the spacerace so they were going to send American astronauts to walk on the moon. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set of on their journey to walk on the moon. Although they both set off at the same time Neil was a little more important so he was the first man on the moon and Buzz was second.
