    This was a military conflict fought between the republic of China and the empire of Japan. China wanted Japanese territory. Japan wanted to be in charge and take Chinese territory. China recovers all territories lost to Japan and created conflict for the start of World War ll.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    Germany attacks Poland with bombs, warships, and U-boats. Hitler, the Nazi leader said it was a defensive action. Britain and France were not convinced and they declaring war, initiating World War ll.

    This was a Global War that lasted for 6 years and 1 day. It involved a majority of the worlds nations. There was two opposing military alliances. The axis and the allies. It started because of an unapproved attack on Poland. This resulted in the collapse of Nazi Germany, Japan, and Italian Empires.

    German term for "lightening war." It's a military tactic designed to create disorganization among enemy forces. It's successful execution resulted in military campaigns that saved human lives.
  • Fall of Paris

    Parisians awoke to the sound of Germans on a loud speaker announcing a curfew of 8:00pm. German troops invaded and took over Paris. German commanders forced the French government to accept their agreements. Germany won, resulting in the fall of France.
  • Operation Barbossa

    Code name for Nazi Germany's invasion on the Soviet Union. Soviet planes flying over German position near Moscow. Soviet soldiers fired at German positions. This opened up the Eastern front.

    Japan launched a surprise attack on America. Hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American Navel base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. This caused the U.S. and Japan to declare war.

    This was a meeting of senior officials of Nazi Germany. It is held in the Berlin suburb. The purpose of this meeting was to ensure the cooperation of leaders of government in how to deal with the Jews.
  • Bataan Death March

    The U.S. surrender to Japan during World War ll. 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Baatan were forced to make a 65 mile March to prison camps. They were subject to harsh treatment by the Japanese. Thousands perished.
  • Battle of Midway

    Six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor the U.S. Defeated Japan in the most decisive navel battles. The Americand were able to counter Japan's ambush. The victory allowed the Unites States and its allies to move into an offensive position.
  • Operation Gomorrah

    On this day British bombers raid Hamburg, Germany but night. While this is happens at night Americans bomb it by day. This was the first time Germany thought they might have to call for peace. The invasion was to hopefully get Germany to surrender.
  • D-Day (Normandy Invasion)

    This was the Allied invasion of Normandy. This was the largest seaborn invasion in history. This invasion was to hopefully mislead the Germans. They resulted in Normandy gaining 5 beachheads.

    Soviet soldiers were the first to liberate concentration camp prisoners during war. They helped 100's of sick and exhausted prisoners.
  • The Battle of the Bulge

    This was a surprise attack on the U.S by the Germans. The United States forces were the brunt of the attack and brought in emir nighters casualties. Allied victory, Germany operations failed.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    This was a major battle in which the U.S. Marines captured the island of Iow Jima from Japan's imperial army. Americans went home with the victory.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    This battle was also code named Operation Iceberg. This was a series of battles fought on an island owned by Japan. (Okinawa)
  • Potsdam Decleration

    Harry S. Truman, Winsten Churchill, and Joseph Stalin were the heads of the state. The leaders agreed on German economy, punishments for war criminals and land boundaries. This is a statement called for the surrender of Japanese armed forces. If Japan did not surrender it would face prompt and utter destruction.
  • Operation Thunderclap

    This was a code name for a canceled operation for August 1944 but was never put into place. The plan was to invade Berlin to get rid of German Casualties. They figured this plan would not work so it was cancelled
  • Dropping of the atomic bombs

    President Truman warned some of his advisers that any attempt to invade japane would result in America casualties, ordered to bring the war to an end. The American bomber Enola Gau dropped a five ton bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Ending world War ll.
  • VJ Day

    Victory over Japan Day. News of the Japanese surrender announced to the world. There were spontaneous celebrations.
  • VE Day

    This stands for Vicotry in Europe Day. This was a public holiday to mark the formal acceptance by the allies of world war ll of Nazi Germany's unconditional sure we of its armed forces.
