In 1827 Samuel B. Morse became interested in electricity. It was not intill 1832 that got his first patent for the invention of the electric telegraph.

In 1836, Samuel introduced his invention to the world. Short signals were called dits. They looked like dots. Long signals were called dahs. They looked like dashes.

In 1837, Charles Wheatstone and William Cooke started using electric telegraphs in England, but their telegraphs needed needle points that rotated to show the letters of the alphabet in the message.

In 1844 he showed his invention to congress. He sent the message “What has God wrought”
from washington to baltimore. -
