Reconstruction
Before and in the early years of Reconstruction the oppertuninty for freed African Americans, some of them were even in congress. Once AJ became president and reconstruction was over there were no more oppertunities for the African Americans. AJ's plan for reconstruction angered alot of southerners. -
14th ammendment
The 14th ammendment allowed african americans to be citizens. It also entiltled them to the basic freedoms of the bill of rights and stopped segragation. -

Enforcement act of 1870
After the Civil war a hate group against blacks called the KKK. They were very violent and wanted the free lives of the blacks to be worse then slavery. The enforcement act protected the rights of African Americans basically stopping the KKK. -
Compromise of 1877
Banned reconstruction in the U.S. Reconstruction was to put the nation back together after the Civil War. Hayes was awareded presidency if he took all the troops out of the South. -
American Telegraph and Telephone coorperation
Founded off of Thomas Edison electricity. Telephones and telegraphs were now being used all over the country. -
