Apprenticeship

When Michelangelo was 13 he served as an apprentice to Domenico Ghirlandajo. He also had served the apprentice to Domenico's brother Florence. They were both painters who taught him in Florence. This helped him become the great painter he was.(www.italoamericano.org)

What happened in 1492 is that Columbus landed in the New World. He was the "first" one to discover the land. It took him and his crew about 2 months to travel from Spain to the Americas.

Journey to Rome

Julius's Tomb

Medici Chapel

In 1527 Florence anticipated an attack by a papal and imperial army. He paused his works at the Medici Chapel and took to defending Florence.
