Johannes Gutenberg set out to create a machine that could produce pages at a very fast speed. Quickly, he established the basics of his machine. Within ten years, the printing press was put to commercial use. This machine was mostly used for the church and his most famous work was the 42-line Bible.

He was born in Caprese, Tuscany. His father was Lodovico di Leonardo di Buonarroti di Simoni and his mother was Francesca di Neri del Miniato di Siena. Michelangelo's mother died a very short time after his birth and they returned to Florence.

IN 1481, Michelangelos mom passed away. Shortly after ths, he was sent to live with a stonecutter. Here, is where he developed his interest in sculpting. this interest probab;y came about due to the family always working and him playing amomgst the tools.

In 1481, Michelangelo told his father of his dreams about sculpting. This was very important because his father did not think that that was the right choice and becuase his father was very judgemental towards his decisions.

Michelangelo began his first apprenticeship when he was sent to Florence to study grammar. This was also the time when he told his father of his dreams of being a sculpter. This was an important step because his father was against him not doing something that was completely traditional. Lastly, this was the time where he had created his first works, such as, "Head of the Faun" and "Madonna on the Stairs"

Christopher Columbus left the Spanish port on August 3rd,1492 to attempt reaching Asia by sailing west. On this day, he had his three ships- the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. This was about a two month long journey that his crew endured. On October 12th, 1942, they finally landed on a small island in the Carribeans. At firts the crew believed they had reached Asia, but they had not. This had opened up a whole new world.

In 1494. Ludovico Sforza permits the French ivasion of Italy. He did this to try to weaken the king of Naples, his enemy. Teh first invasion that occurs due to this fails, but the French return. and an period of competition for Italian land begins.

In 1497, Michelangelo created his first important works. Including the "Bacchus" and 2nd "Cupid. He sold both of these works to Baldassare del Milanese. The "Cupid" was destroyed by a fire in 1698.

In 1499, Michelangelo created the "Pieta" for Cardinal Jean de Bilhères. It was made for his funeral momument. This was also the only piece thay he had ever signed.

In 1504, MIchelangelo's sculpture, "David" is set up in front of Opera del Duomo. This was originally intended to be a group of sculptures for the Cathedral of Florence. Also, MIchelangelo worked on this piece with Antonio Rossellino.

In 1513, Michelangelo created Pope Julius's tomb. HIs tomb was also surrounded by forty life size statues. This assignment from the pope changed very many times. Including the fact that the tomb was set to be much smaller and less extravagent after the pope died and did not have a say.

Niccolo Machiavelli is best known for his book, "The Prince." This book was a handbook for politicians. It also established Machiavelli as the 'father of political history."

In 1524, Michelangelo began his work on the Laurentin Library. Here, he constructed a beautiful entrance, floors, walls, and cieling. Michelangelo also established the library, Badia Fiesolana.

On May 6, many troops of Spanish Catholic and German Lutheran got to Rome. They were very resentful of the papacy and were raging as they entered the Vatican. The pope was hutsled away to safety and the Sack of Rome has begun. A few years later, in 1530, the pope and emperor reconciled.

Henry the 8th was born on June 28th, 1491. He was a very hardworking student, learned many langauges, and studied hard. Henry also learned how to play the lute, organ, and harp. ON his fathers death on April 21st, 1509, he became head of the english kindgom and church.

In 1555, MIchelangelo destroyed his own tomb. He had been working on this piece for 8 years, It is thought that he destroyed his work out of a fit of frustration. Francesco Bandini was one to restore his work.

On February 18, 1564 Michelangelo died. He died in Rome, Italy.
