  • Revolution comes to a close

    The Ten-tragic days begines and happens, it it was pitched fighting between Diaz and Madero. Madero made a mistake and appointed the untrustworthy Huerta as the commander in chief. Heurta ended up defeating both of the leaders forces and Madero ended up getting assasinated three days after being kicked out of office, US Ambassador Henry Wilson played a gigantic role in this whol event.

  • Huerta is kicked form office

    With the combined efforts of the US army and the Mexican rebels, there was once again another power change in mexico, this would lead to the longest, bloodiest, civil war in mexican history.

  • Carranza takes control.

    On this date, the general corranza takes control of the exective branch officially, He was already in control but this makes it all legit.

  • The Cristero Rebellion

    The Catholics revolted after the government cracked down and the anti-clerical provisions of the secular constitution of 1917. The us ambassader helped end this democraticly but 90,000 thousand people still died.

  • The times of Maximato

    A period of time named after Plutarco Elias Calles, he was also known as Jefe Maximo hence the name. he was the president of the country from 1924-28. during this sex year time span three presedents where in power, but they where all nothing compared to Calles.

  • PRI

    The Partido Revolucionario Institucional party is formed, also knows as the PRI. This party was made by the General Plutarco Elias Calles, the president of MExico from the time period of 1924-1928. This party has been the most powerful party since then and had its first loss in the 200 elections. Vicente fox came to power then

  • Lazaro Cardenas

    Lazari Cardenas becomes president and the peasent class really liked him. he did a lot for mexico including reforming education and nationalizing the iol industry . this made it possiable for mexico to have an economic growth period during the great depression.

  • Trotsky Dies

    Leon Trotsky was a former soviot who was exiled, he ended up going to mexico in the late 30's. President Cardens was happy to see him come to mexico and even sent a train to get him so he could make it to mexico city. he survived the first assasination attempt on May 24, 1940 but they got him on august 20th.

  • Camacho becomes President

    Manuel Avila Camacho becomes President while world war 2 is going on, He is famouse for being the first catholic to be in power in some time, all the ones in the past had been anti claricks for the last 20 years. He also sent around 300,000 workers to the us to help with the war effort.

  • Mexico joins the Allies

    After loosing 2 oil tankers to german U-Boats the mexican governments decide to declare war on the axis powers, Germany, Italy and japan.

  • Valdez becomes President

    Miguel Aleman Valdez becomes president and he is a very corrupt president. He is one that set a president it seems for the modern political culture of mexico.

  • Cortines becomes President

    Adolfo Ruiz Cortines was the president who gave the woman the right to vote. He did some other not so important stuff to like he had tight control of public expedetures, but he mostly just gave woman the right to vote.

  • Mateos becomes President

    Adolfo Lopez Mateos was the first left of center prezident since Cardenas. Mateos focused mostly on land redistribution and also had social welfare investments reach its peak.

  • Ordaz becomes President

    Gistavo Diaz Ordaz is despised by mexicans because of the way he rules, very authoritarian, but also because of the Tlatelolco Massacre.

  • The Tlatelolco Massacre

    University students who where demestrating in Tlatelolco Mexico where fired upon adn hundreds of protesters end up getting hurt, most of them being university students. The violance just shocks the country as a whole.

  • Alverez becomes President

    Luis Echeverria Alverez led the country during a down turn, economics in mexico where horriable during his presidency. He was extremly corrupt with the mexican cartels influincing him majorly and also alianated the mexican poeple in the whole PRI.

  • The Corpus Christi Massacre

    Even though Luis Echeverria Alveres swore to be a kinder president then his predeccesor, it turned to not be so. The Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey wasshut down by extremely angrey protesters. He was able to make an agreement and got them to vacat the location but when the students sympathetic to his cause went on a march threw mexico city, then all hell broke loos when the Halcones came threw and started beating them up. 25 students ended up dead and dozens more wounded.

  • Oil fields are found

    Offshore oil is found in Cantarell, it is now the mainstay of mexico's oil production

  • Portillo

    Jose Lopez Portillo served under his friend Alverez as finance minister. he was the one who nationalized the banking industry and he was the last president to become market oriented. He became president they say because of corruption and thats about it.

  • Hurtado becomes Persident

    Miguel de la madrid Huurtado came to power in one of the most difficult times in mexican history. Unemployment was at an all time low 25 percent and he implemented ecenomic policys that helped foreign investment and privitized much of the states institutions. He even refused foreign aid after a massive earthquake hit that killed thousands.

  • The Mexico City Earthquake

    A 9.0 earthquake hit mexico city and hit it hard. it killed 20,000 + and left thousands more homeless.

  • Salinas de Gortari becomes President

    Carlos Salinas de Gortari became president and even though the computers crashed that kept the voting rights people still believed that he won, even though he did not win by much. He did a lot during his time including lower the inflation rate to be the lowest in 22 years. he also negotiated NAFTA with the US and Canada.

  • NAFTA

    North American Free Trade Agreement was implemented on this date. The whole goal of NAFTA was to lower trade barriers between the economies so that they could become the largest in the world in terms of GDP

  • The Chiapas Rebellion

    The Zapatista National Revolution Party led a revolution in Chiapes agianst the government, but it is brutaly suppressed. They did not like how NAFTA made them more globalized and they wanted greater recognition of indian rights.

  • Colosio is assasinated

    Luis Donaldo Colosio was a presidential candidate for the PRI in the upcoming 1904 election. He was assasinated whle he was campaining in tijuana, a man shot him on the streets and they connected the assasination to the former president and his brother, Raul Salinas was sent into exile.

  • Ponce de Leon becomes president

    Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de Leon was just a compain manager for Luis Colosio. When Colosio was assasinated he ended up being a replacment for the incumbent Salinas. Many poeple saw this as another power grab since Zedillo was not a politcian but he did take power and right after he did a major economic crisis did hit mexico. Salinas did end up getting blamed for this and mexico only ever had a chance at recovering after Bill Clinton loaned 50 billion to mexico.

  • The December Mistake

    This term was coined by the outgoing president Gortari in reference to his successor Ernesto Zedillo's reversal fo the former administration policy of tight currenct controls. many people agree that the decolution was necessary but it was not handled well at the political level.

  • The Aguas Blancas Massacre

    On June 28, 1995, guerrero state police waited and attacked a truckload of farmers. they ended up killing 17 and injured up to 20. The police made a crude video and made it look like they ahd guns in there hands and said that it was there fault, the state governer at that time, Ruben Figueroa refused to resign but when the origional copy came out without the guns he had to resign, he had no choice.

  • The Acteal Massacre

    The Actual massacre was around a parlamentery group called the red mask. 45 members of the Las Abejas where killed during their prayer meeting in chiapas. they where a pacifist group who supported the zapatistas. 13 of the killed where under 10.

  • Vicente Fox for president

    For the fist time in political mexico someone not from the PRI won and that woudl be good old Vicente Fox Quesada. he is well known for being very charismatic and having a cowboy sort of quality.

  • Zapatour

    This was when the Zapatista guerrila fighter, who where led by subcomandante marcos, did a march from Chiapas to Mexico City to highlight their demands.

  • Rights for the Indigenous

    Parliament passed a bill that gave more rights to the indigenous people of mexico. A few days later though there leader, subcomandante Marcos rejects the bill saying it just leaves us worse of then before so we will continue our uprising.

  • Secure Fence Act

    US president Goerge W Bush agreed to sighn a peice of legislation which aloud to build a 700 mile fence along the US and Mexican border, which was intended to help stop illegel immigration.

  • Hinojosa becomes President

    Felipe de Jesus Calderon Hinojosa becomes President, he was the conservitive one with his compitiion being Andres Manuel Lopez who was left of center. he end up bairly winning. He has been working on environmental issues along with immigration and tyring to help curb the health issues in a positive direction.

  • Calderon starts the drug war

    President Felipe Calderon immediatly declares war on drugs when he gets into office. He puts a cap on salaries of high-ranking and paid public officials and raises the salaries of the Mexican armed forces and the police.

  • Carlos Slim becomes richest man in the world

    Fortunes reports that the mexican tycoon Carlos Slim has taken over Bill Gates formally held poistion as the worlds richest man. he has around a 59 billion money vaule, based off of all his holdings at the end of july. This beats Bill Gates big sum of 58 billion.

  • The Tabasco Flood

    Heavy rains hit the state and cause the sothern part of it to become so flooded that 500,000 are made homeless and it is considered one of the countries worst natural disasters to this day.

  • Subcomandante Marcos makes a speach backing Palestine against Isreal

    Marcos makes a speach about how he backs palestine and that how isreal is just another western globalization power. he does not agree with what the US and her allies have done there so he backs Palistine.

  • San Fernando Massacre

    There was a mass murder of 72 illegal immigrents after they refused to work for the cartel. The police caught Edgar Huerta who they believe to be the one who helped this horriable event to come to place, Massacures like this have been happening a lot since the war on drugs has started.

  • Monterret Casino Attack

    Gunman attack a casino and light it on fire with oil which ends up killing 52 people. The President Calderon denounces the attacks and calls it "an abhorrent act of terror". The attack was a result between the Los Zetas and the Gulf Cartels. this seems to happen a lot from the inner fightings of the cartels.
