Death of Abraham Lincoln.
On this day, John Wilks Booth had snuck into the private box, and shot Abraham Lincoln in the head. Licoln had died several hours later from the shot to the head. -
The 13th Amendment.
The 13th amendment was the amendment that had abolished slavery in the United states. This amendement also said that no one, it doesn't matter the clor of their skin, shall not be forced into doing work they don't want to do. -
Black Codes
This law that was passed left African Americans with little freedom in their lives. They allowed plantaions to exploit the former slaves and use them for work. -
Civil Rights Act
This declared that all people born in the US are now citizens. And the colors of the skin didn't matter. Neither did the fact that they were former slaves, or not. -
KKK *Ku Klux Klan*
This was a group of whites who hated that the blacks finally got their rights, so they formed a girl. This group, was known as the KKK, or the the Ku Klux Klan. -
14th Amendment.
This amendment was made to protect the rights of the former slaves and that no one can take away their rights. -
15th Amendment
This amendment was made for African American males to own land. This also allowed them to vote, and do things the white males could do.
