  • 13th Amendment Ratified

    The 13th Amendment was ratified on January 31st, 1865. This Amendment made slavery illegal.

  • 14th Amendment Ratified

    The 14th Amendment was ratified granting all people born in the United States citizenship and granting them equal protection under the law.

  • Montgomery Bus Boycotts

    Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. Martin Luther King called for a city wide bus boycott, which lasted for over an entire year. By the end of the boycotts, the Supreme Court had ruled that it was unconstitutional to segregate buses.

  • 15th Amendment Ratified

    This amendment gave African American men the right to vote.
