  • Macbeth and Banquo come home as heroes

    During the battle Macbeth killed Macdonwald and played a major role in winning the battle.

  • Macbeth and Banquo meet witches

    The witches tell Macbeth that he will be thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and King, and tell Banquo his children will be kings.
    Quote from Third Witch: "All Hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter" (Act 1 scene 3 ll 50)
  • Macbeth is told he is now Thane of Cawdor

    The first prophecy comes true as Macbeth becomes Thane of Cawdor

  • Macbeth murders Duncan

    Macbeth murders Duncan
    While The King is at his house, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth conspire to kill him, which Macbeth does.
  • Macbeth becomes king

    The king's sons, Malcolm and Donalbain flee, so Macbeth takes over as king.
  • Banquo is murdered

    Macbeth hires three murderers to go kill Banquo and Fleance, but they only succeed in killing Banquo.

    Banquo haunts Macbeth
    Banquo comes back as a ghost and sits in Macbeth's place at the table, makes him go crazy.

  • Macbeth hears three new prophecies

    The Witches summon three apparitions who tell Macbeth three propecies. Beware the Thane of Fife, He shall not be harmed by anyone born of woman, and he will be safe till Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane.
  • Lady Macduff and Macduffs child get murdered

    A messenger comes to tell Macduff to flee but she does not listen. Then murderers come and stab her child and chase her, we presume she is killed.
  • Macduff seeks revenge

    Ross comes and tell Macduff that Macbeth murdered his wife and child, and Malcolm tells him to turn his grief into anger.
  • Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are delusional

    Macbeth believes he has nothing to fear as he has the prophecies to protect him. Lady Macbeth is living a living and sleeping nightmare as she keeps dwelling over Duncans murder.

  • Malcolm and Siward fufill third prophecy

    Malcolm and Siward fufill third prophecy
    Malcolm tells all his soldiers to cut down a tree branch and carry it in front of them as they march toward the castle. This in effect brings Birnam Wood to Dunsinane.
  • Lady Macbeth dies

    While Macbeth is preparing for the battle, it is commonly believed that Lady Macbeth kills herself to be rid of her guilt and hysteria.
  • Macduff kills Macbeth

    Macduff is able to kill Macbeth because he was untimely ripped from his mothers womb, which fufills the prophecy that Macbeth will not be harmed from man born of women.
