NAACP Begins Challenging Segregation in School
Charles Hamilton Houston wanted to challenge the nation with a case later known as "Brown v Board case". Houston had two valid points in his arguement. The first, having so many separate schools can become very costly. Second, black lawyers don't have equal opportunities in success compared to white lawyers. -
The NAACP board begins approach to desegregation
NAACP decided to focus their resources solely on desegregating public schools rather than focusing on equality in other segregated public places. -

Capital citizens council formed
This group was formed to fight against the desegregation of schools. -
Brown V. Board of Education in Topeka
They decided that the desegregation in schools was deemed unconstitutional. -
Little Rock Nine Group Started School
In September, the nine members of the Little Rock group started their journey to Little Rock Central High school being the first black students there and were met with such backlash. -
Arkansas National Guard
Govenor Orval Faubus send the Arkansas National Guard to keep the Little Rock Nine from entering school. Stating that he was protecting the white students. -
Judge Davies
Ordered that the Arkansas National guard be removed. But the Police department took over and continued to keep the Little Rock Nine out of the school. -
US Army
President Eisenhower sent 1200 troop members of the US army to escort the Little Rock Nine into the school. -
First Full Day of School
On the 25th of September and with the help of the US Army, The Little Rock Nine were able to officially attend a full day of school.
