Literacy Timeline -Shelby Lawson

  • Barnyard

    Barnyard
This was a movie I watched all the time when I was younger. It showed me that I loved livestock.
  • Livestock

    Livestock
When I was younger, I had swine, cattle, ducks, chickens, and beagles. This allowed me to watch and learn how to take care of them, and it allowed me to love dealing with livestock even more.
  • Among The Hidden

    Among The Hidden
This book was one that we read as a class in 5th Grade. I loved this book for the longest time because to me it was extremely interesting. I didn't finish the series, but I started on it.
  • Tuck Everlasting

    Tuck Everlasting
We had to read this book in 5th grade for a certain class. I found it interesting whenever I was younger and loved reading it.
  • The Longest Ride

    The Longest Ride
This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and it caused me to love bull-riding. It also caused me to love Scott Eastwood.
  • Medical Field

    Medical Field
I watched one of my best friends from my childhood become a nurse, and it really interested me. Ever since, I have wanted to go to college for something in the medical field. At first, I wanted to be a pediatrician, but now I want to see what else would interest me.
  • North American Championship Rodeo

    North American Championship Rodeo
A lot of our FFA club members went to a rodeo back in November, and we stayed there from 10 in the morning to about 12 that night and didn't get home until 2. This event allowed me to love livestock even more. This also gave me another reason to love George Strait a lot more.
  • FFA Creed

    FFA Creed
I've never liked speaking in front of others, and although I'm still not great at it at times, I have improved. Last year, Hammons made me recite the creed in front of many classes all year long. He also made me do the Creed Speaking Contest.
  • FFA State Convention

    FFA State Convention
During the summer, a group of our FFA members went to a state convention. There were a lot of people that talked during it, but one guy stood out to me. He taught us how he was different whenever he was younger and was bullied for it, but he has made it a long way. That was basically the only thing I paid full attention to.
  • FFA Leadership Conference

    FFA Leadership Conference
Our FFA group went to Morehead State back in March, and we listened and observed as other people showed us their talents, their opinions, and their stories. We participated in a lot of activities and they taught us what it meant to be a leader in FFA.
