    thought government was to strong didn't think the government had the right to tell them how to live southerners felt if they stayed in the US the north would control them

    started at Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861, ended April 9, 1865, fighting:: confederacy (southern states) union (Nothern states)
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Lincoln was going to send a Emancipation Proclamation out before they won a victory. He thought the confederate would think of it as a cry for help. So he waited until the union won a victory. They eventually did and Abraham Lincoln sent it out for slaves to join their side.
