When Leon was only 12 years old, both of his parents died only 4 days apart from eachother. With this occurence, he most likely felt that he was not tied down to his home giving him the inspiration to travel and explore the world around him. -
Leon kills and sells his first deer
Leon was an avid hunter and trapper. He kills and sells his first deer which shows interest in the outdoor activities which his company, LLBean, later sells geer for these activities -
Bean Takes out a Loan
Leon takes out a $400 loan and travels up to Boston. While in Boston, he gives the American Rubber Company his $400 and asked them to make a better boot for him. -
Bean becomes successful
Bean begins to sell a lot of boots which gave him enough money to start his own shop. -
Bean patents LLBean
Bean realized that he it is very important to patent his inventions. So, he did and created LLBean, the very successful corporation that everyone knows today. -
Bean Publishes Book
Bean writes a book called Hunting, Fishing and Camping. -
Bean dies
Leon Leonwood Bean died in Pompano Beach, Florida at the age of 94.
