    This was a message sent from Germany to Mexico. It was asking them to side with them if a war broke out. Mexico declined their offer. This started the whole western hemisphere to talk about war.

    19 year old Gavrilo Princip shot the arch duke Franz. Ferdinand. It happened during a parade in Sarajevo. This is the event that sparked WWI.

    On this date the people who were supposed to be at war decided to hold fire for christmas. This event involded hundreds to thousands of soldiers. They celebrated by eating pudding, singing christmas carols and some people even played a frendly game of soccer.

    This event was one of the first peace organizations in America. It was known as the American Pacifist Organization and was formedin the responce of WWI. This organization wanted permanent peace and took action to get other people involved in their organization.

    The Germans were the first to fire at the beggining of the war. The shells were filled with Chlorine Gas. It almost collapsed the French lines.

    This thought came from letters that Hugh Loftings wrote to his children. He tried to tell them what was happening and what he was going through without being as graphic. He wrote all of these letters from the trenches that he stayed in.

    The youngest soldier was a 12 year old named Sidney Lewis. He was from Great Britain and fought in the battle of Somme. In order to get in the war he calimed he was 19 because the legal age was 18.

    The British started using them in Delville wood. They used it to break through barbed wire and helped clear paths. They thought that it would be very helpfull but it ended up not working out so well.

    Theador was talking about how he had to attend besson court. Besson court is a court for people in the millitary, represented by a millitary lawyer. It is also know as Courts Martial.

    My veteran got up early this day at 6:30, this was a lot earlier than he was used to. he had breakfast at 10:30. He also had to get his gas mask tested.

    He had a very eventful day this day. People were swooping in and shooting at him. Nobody got hurt and they were able to fight them off.

    Captain Oswald Robertson, a U.S army doctor organized this blood bank. He did it to help the wounded souldiers that were at war. The first one was held on the westen front.

    This flu broke out in Fort Rylee KS, and then spread all around the globe. It happened just when the war was starting to die down. Over half of the soldiers in Europe died from it, and killed more people than the war itself.

    The Germans signed a treating declaring peace on the Eastern front. This treaty caused problems for the french, British, and Americans. The Germans gained huge tracks of land.
