Langston was around 16 years old when his grandmother passed away and he had to move with is mother in Illinois. -
Langston started working different jobs
When Langston moved with his mother in Illinois, he started working different jobs, to help out with his mother. -
Grandmother passing away when a teen
After Langston moved in with his grandmother a few years later she passed away when Langston was still in his early teens. -
Moved with his grandmother at 13 years old
At 13 years old James Hughes moved with his grandmother after his father and mother separated, She was his guardian for a while. -
Finally settling down in Illinois
Langston eventually got tired of all of the jobs, he decided to do something that made him happy, this is when he started writing poetry. -
Becoming a poet
After settling down Langston started writing poems and got noticed and he got a lot of awards and letters. -
Death and Legacy
After Langston started settling down, he started writing different kinds of poetry. After all of the awards and things he won for it, he died on May 22nd, 1967 at 65 years old due to prostate cancer. But yet still leaving great poetry for people to love and to remember him.
