In early elementary school(1st and 2nd Grades), we would listen to read alouds through cassette.
-
When teachers would present to the class, overhead projectors were used.
-
In 5th Grade, we started taking "Computer" as an elective, but the computers were super old or hodge-podged together with an old tv as the monitor.
-
With the Computer elective, we were given typing instruction in which the keyboard was covered so that we couldn't see the keys. This was to help get us familiar with proper typing technique of hand placement and not looking at the keys when you type.
-
When we started to actually produce work for class, we initially used floppy disks.
-
During 7th Grade, we learned some rudimentary coding, and, when finished, we had created digital Christmas trees.
-
During 8th Grade, my parents realized I was probably going to need something to "do work on." So, they purchased a word processor. We didn't have an actual home computer until my sophomore year of high school.
-
As a family, we got our first computer, which I think was an IBM, and it was kept in our family room. We had AOL, and it was dial-up. We had to get a new phone number so that people could be on the phone and online at the same time.

When I graduated high school in 2000, I received my first personal laptop as a graduation gift since I was going to need it at Villanova.
