    Josiah was in the middle of a rumor that was being said about the rebels, that they were going to make their way to fight. They have already recieved many wounded and in need of soldiers to be strong during the fight. Josiah feels depressed by what he sees of many people dying one after another and he worries about all those families at home wondering about their loved one's in the battlefield, but not knowing how most of them are dead.

    Josiah was born to Samuel C. and Catharine (browning) Reed on September 8, 1831. During the Civil War, he served with Company I of the 94th Ohio Infantry regiment. He fought battles in Middle and East Tennessee including the battle of stones river and the batttle of chattanooga. He also developed an interest in medicine during the war, after being shot in the arm at the battle of stones river. When he eas wounded, he was sent to a hospital in Nashville. He got married and died on february 7 1884

    In 1868, the paymaster general sent Reed a letter that gave him the money he deserved from fighting in the civil war. The money was later used for Josiah Reeds burial.
