  • English Languge Began

    All the subjects were to be taught in English, in the public schools.

  • English taught in secondary schools

    President McKinley, Commissioner of Education said "English should be taught only in secondary schools".

  • Language Act

    It was officially granted the language Act, status to English and Spanish.

  • English was taught in all grades

    The Language Act was revoked by Theodore Rosevelt where he established that English should be taught to all grades.

  • Spanish was reinstated

    Spanish was reinstated therefore; English was only to be taught from first grade to fourth grade.

  • Reinstated the English language again to all grades

    English was re-established for secondary schools by Winthrop.

  • Governor Luis Munoz Marin

    Governor Luis Munoz Marin established that Spanish was the main language to be taught in all grades and English to be taught just for one period during the day.

  • Official Language of Puerto Rico

    On January 28, 1993 English and Spanish were established the official language in Puerto Rico.
