    Wounded Kneeis located in South Dakota. The Pin Ridge Reservation was divided by political and cultural lines. Government officials and members of the self-proclaimed Guardians of the Oglala Nation placed roadblocks to prevent access to the area, which the protesters had been decided to be the Independent Oglala Nation. Two people died on gunshot wounds and a dozen others were wounded.
