  • 1798 Alien Friends Act

    This allowed the President to deport any allen he thought was dangerous to society. Also if the allen stayed in the country, he/she could go to jail for three years. Not becoming a USA citizen came along with that punishment, On the other hand the President could grant temporary residency to an allen if he so chooses.
  • 1882 Immigration Act

    A tax of 50 cents was put on all allens that entered the country. Once of the boats, the allens were inspected. "Upon examination passengers who appeared to be convicts, lunatics, idiots or unable to take care of themselves were not permitted onto land."
  • 1950 Act on Alien Spouses and Children

    Alloed foreign born spouses and children to be members of the United States., regardless of race.
  • 2006 Secure Fence Act

    Gave control of the United States-Mexico border to Homeland Security. Fencing was constructed on the border for efforts to keep illegal aliens from coming into the country.
