    Italians immigrated from Italy to escape the mob, poor housing environments, or poverty. They would generally settle in New York, and would work as shop keepers, laborers, or craftsmen. They would suffer from low wages and discrimination while living here in America.

    The Irish started Immigration to the U.S. because of the Irish Potatoe Famine. They settled all over the U.S, and would take any job they could get. The reason for this being that many employers didn't want the Irish to work in their businesses. Today, many Irish still immigrate to America.

    Chinese Immigration

    People from China came to the U.S. looking to become rich of of the gold rush. They would settle in San Francisco, where they created China Town. In 1850, the Foreign Miners Tax was passed causing all immigrants mining in the gold rush to pay a tax while the Americans didn't have to. They faced many other hardships including being robed, perceived as criminals, and not being able to get jobs. Today, it is easier from the Chinese to come and start a new life in America.
  • Mexican Immigration

    Mexican Immigration
    Many Mexicans came to the U.S. in for a better education, life, and income. They would temporarily settle in workcamps, get money, and return to Mexico. The jobs they took while they were here include factory and field workers. Some challenges they faced was traveling to the U.S, getting food, and deportation. on top of that, they wernt being treated eaually and were seen as criminals.

    Eastern European Immigration
    Many Jews in Eastern Europe were being persecuted based on their religion. They traveled to the east coast of America where they took middle to lower class jobs. When they got here, they faced a lot discrimination, and still do today.
