    When the Great Depression was creeping on many Americans were upset that the Chinese were taking their jobs. Because of this Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act which limited the amount of Chinese who could immigrate and made it harder for them to stay.

    Arizona was now allowed to build a border fence to prevent illegal immigrants to enter. They were allowed to do so only if they could raise the money and earn permission from the landowners on whose land it would be built. This caused a huge controversey between Arizona and Mexico.
