    -1882 Chinese Exclusion Act. The Chinese Exclusion Act prohibited certain laborers from migrating to the United States. At this time a lot of people from China migrated to the country in search of gold and wealth. This created many issues with miners and other towns in the west so they became more protective on who entered the nation.

    The US immigration Act of 1907. This act reorganized the states that boardered Mexico. This was used to control the flow of immigrants entering the United States. At this time there was no true boundry between the United States and Mexico therefore people from Mexico entered the country very easily. The boundary was created to show the Mexicans where the border was and what they were entering.

    Laws were put into place to further restrict who and how many people entered the United States. These laws established the quota system for the number of people allowed to enter the United States. They banned all Asians from entering the nation except for the Japanese. This act was used to limit the number of Asians from entering the country because in the years prior there were thousands of Asians entering the country.

    The 1924 Act reduced the number of available visas for people entering the United States. It based the number of visas available on the origin of their nationality. This would restrict the immigration boom that America was having and decline the rate at which people were coming into America.

    The 1929 Immigration Act only allowed 150,000 immigrants to enter the United States per year. Asians were not allowed to immigrate to the United States. 85% of the immigrants were to be from Northern and Western Europe. This act was put into place to restrict the number of Asians in the United States. This was very substantial to America because now this angered many Asians and pretty much didn’t allow Asians to come to America. This put a bad connotation to America.

    The 1952 immigration act established the modern day US immigration system. It created a quota system which puts limits on a per-country basis. It also established the preference system that gave priority to family members and people with special skills. This act was important because it would then pave the road for better immigration acts in the future.

    Immigration Act of 1965
    The immigration act of 1965 or the Hart Cellar Act allowed all ethnic backgrounds to come to America. This act got rid of old acts that restricted or didn’t allow certain ethnic groups to enter the United States. This act was right in the middle of the Civil Rights Movement which made this Act even more appropriate and set a new face to America as a country that accepts all people.
