    Federal and Provincial governments are given the responsibility of immigration.
  • Immigration Act

    Criminals, the poor, and the disabled are not allowed to immigrate to Canada.

    It was passed to encourage settlement and repel invasion by the U.S.
  • Chinese Immigration Act

    Head tax of 50$ is set for Chinese Immigrants

    Immigration is limited for various religious groups, including Hutterites, Doukhobors, Bulgarians, and Austrians.

    "Undesirable Peoples" were barred entry, including The mentaly ill, alcoholics, and people with "strange habits or llifestyles"

    Chinese people are not allowed to immigrate to Canad unless they are students, diplomats, investors, the the children of Canadians

    The economy crashed, and the praries were stuck in a lasting dust storm due to little rain, and so crops dried up and stopped holding down the soil. There was widesread unemployement and povrety
  • Canadian Citezenship Act

    People born outside of Canada can now become Canadian citizens.

    The Chinese Immigration Act is no longer in effect.

    New department formed to manage Citizenship and Immigration.

    A Points System is introduced to judge who should be let in to Canada
  • Refugees

    Refugee now counts as a class of immigrant.
  • Citizenship Act

    THe Canadian Citizenship Act is revised.
  • Immigration Act Revised

    Immigration ACt now gives more power to provinces, makes categories of immigrants, and lists/defines prohibited classes (those who would be too big a burden on health and/or social services, or a financial burden on Canada).

    Refugees and Landed immigrants now have the same rights as Canadian Citizens

    Five year plan is introduced to increase immigration, to fight off an economic depression
