  • 1798 Alien Friends Act

    This acted allowed the President to deport immigrants at anytime that he felt were dangerous. If they did not leave they would have to be in prision for three years and never allowed toreturn to the United States. Also, the president could give immigrants a license that would allow them to have temporary residency.
  • 1882 Immigration Act

    There was a 50 cent fee to all immigrants that landed at United States ports. After that they would be examined and if they thought that you appeared to be a convict, lunatic, idiot, or unable to take care of yourself than you were not allowed to stay.
  • 1950 Act on alien spouses and children

    Allowed foreign spouses and unmarried children of those in the military to come here if they were married before March 19. 1952 and thy would get visas.
