    Australopithecous Afarensis (Southern Ape)
    Lived 3-4 million years ago near the Afar Triangle in Africa. Was 3ft tall and a mix of ape and human. Had long arms and a large head. Also had a forehead and jaw that sticks out. They walked on two feet and could carry items in thier hands. Used hands for self defense. No tools found form this time period. Nicknamed Lucy.

    Lived 1.5-2 million years ago in Africa. Mix of Ape and human. Walked on two feet and is taller than Lucy. 4ft tall and has twice as big of brain at Lucy. Ist species of human to make tools and to live in groups. They had longer life spans than Lucy. They used rocks as scrapping tools and sharp stones for cutting. Also used bones as digging sticks

    Lived 200,000-1.8 million years ago in Europe and on the island of Java in Asia. Taller and thiner than the others before. 5ft tall. Strong bones and smooth forehead with a bow ridge. First species of human to migrate. They are good walkers and runners. Used fire to cook. They ate more meat and built huts from animal skin. Used stone handaxes to create fire.

    Homo Sapiens Neanderthalenis (Neanderthal man)
    Lived 30,000-200,000 years ago in the Neander Valley of Germany. Thick bones and had a forehead with a bow ridge. They were shorter and stocker but were stronger than modern humans. 5 1/2ft tall with a large brain. First to hunt as a group and to bury people that died. Also first to really belong in a community. Lived with modern humans for 10,000 years. More than 60 types of tools have been found such as knives, scarppers, and spear points.

    Lived 12,000-35,000 years ago. They migrated from Africa to Asia and Europe and then to America. Have high rounded skulls with large brain. Had small teeth, slender bones, and were 6ft tall. First to have a type of history which was cave paintings. Used pictures to teach. First to have a complex lanagauge. They attached blades to other tools for ingraving or scolpting. Created needles for sowing. Built houses out of stone. They also made hooks, spears, atlatl, and the bow and arrow.
