How to Stay Healthy

  • 20's

    -ensure a healthy diet that is filled with all the necessary nutrients I will need, since I will most likely be at the peak of my physical health; eating lots of vegetable specifically regardless of if I don't like them
    -get at least 8 hours of sleep every day; although I will most likely be in school, very busy with work and classes, try to have good time management for optimal sleep
    -get up early to go for a run at least 5 times a week
    -get a full medical check up every 2 years
  • 30's

    -begin to focus more on healthy eating (less sodium), often there is weight gain because of a slowing metabolism so watch for over-eating and make sure I am at a healthy weight
    -begin to exercise a bit more; about 30-60 minutes a day optimally
    -get enough sleep; do not get too caught up in work and life so that I am still getting a healthy amount of sleep (reduce stress!)
    -get a medical check up every 1-2 years
    -take care of sexual health
    -continue good hygiene!
  • 40's

    -put more focus onto both physical and mental health, as both ten to begin to struggle during the 40's
    -get routine medical exams every 1-2 years, and focus on getting exams done for all physical aspects like eyesight, cholesterol screening, and an annual breast screening
    -continue healthy diet with less cholesterol and sugars
    -exercise regularly; go to gym at least five times a week
  • 50's

    -focus on eating healthy; metabolism is becoming slower chronically and getting all the important nutrients and cutting back on sodium and sugars is important and maintain a healthy weight
    -Keep the body and mind active; get 30-60 min of exercise as regularly as possible and continue to challenge the mind with learning for optimal health
    -physical exam every 1-2 years, and keep up with important screenings (like breast and cholesterol)
  • 60's

    -make sure that diet is very healthy and avoids fatty/ sodium-filled foods. focus on receiving nutrients and eating well in order to avoid diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, and other health problems (eat a wide variety of foods!)
    -get at least 30 minutes of exercise most days, focus on walks/ cardio in order to maintain a healthy heart
    -get check ups more often; ensure that I am getting check-ups, health screenings and diagnostic tests, and
    immunizations as needed!
