Lina Brown had a long commute to school because the black school was far away because of segregated schools. Having different schools for white and black people made it harder for the black community.

This act abled African Americans to vote in 1965. This law was passed May 26, 1965, and the voting percent in 1964 in the south was 6% and went up to 59% in 1969.

Martin Luther King was assassinated by James Earl Ray in Tennessee. He was shot in the neck at his hotel in Tennisse. He died one hour later and devastations filled the black communities.
