  • White House announced plans to launch an earth orbiting satellite

    This is important because we would be the first people to send an earth orbiting satellite to space, we could and did learn so many things because of it.

  • Russians launched first satellite

    This is very important because, it is important achievment of the space race. Because, then we have to strike back to be even, or ahead.

  • sent explorer 1 intp orbit

    This was very important because they needed to see if they could actually send something into space and put it in orbit sucsefully. And they did.

  • Soviets sent first human into space

    They were the first people to sucsefully send a person into space whuch was huge because that means that there are so many things that we can now explore in space. And we will be able to learn so many things.

  • Kennedy annouced the goal to land a man on the moon

    This was very important because it was the annoucement of a goal that could and did win us the space race. Which was very important to our country.

  • First global orbit 3 times

    We learned so many things from this like how the planets orbit and how far away we are from the sun and the moon and other very interesting and important things abput space.

  • Russians sent a man to space

    This is very imoortant because they were the first ones to send a man to space which is very important and played a huge part in the space race. And the US had to get it together to top that.

  • Man on the moon

    This is HUGE!!! Because first off this won the space race for us. And it taught us so many things we didn't know about space. It was a pretty big thing to land on the moon!!!

  • Internatinoal space station was starting to be built

    With the internatinoal space station to use to explore we can learn so many more things and be able to travel to space quicker and easier and more.

  • US announced goal to send a colony of people to space

    This is important because it kind of shows that we are still trying to learn new things about space. And, with a colony of people there are so many more things you can learn about because you have so many more sets of eyes to observe.
