    The beast from 20,00 fathoms is a story about a city torrorised by a monster, which happens to look like a dinosaur. This is one of the first horror films made and this may have been the scariest idea for the audience at the time, the idea of a monster terrorising the city.

    Night of the living dead was one of the first zombie movies ever made, and many of these zombie horror movies are to be made in the future as there is something about zombies which people like to watch. They have moved on from the monsters terrorising the city to humans changing into zombies which would have probably given people nightmares.

    The exorcist became one of the most famous horror films and to this day is one of the scariest movies of all time. The story is about a young girl who becomes possessed and an exorcist needs to be called in to save her life. Movies now had started to come out in colour. This is a very successful film and to this day is one of the most famous films of all time. Film makers would have been starting to get into the idea of deamons.

    The story carries on from the exorcist about a young boy who is possessed. Special effects were becoming better during this time and like in the horror movies we see today, the trailer begins quite normal and happy. During the 70's film makers loved the idea of children of young children being possessed by the devil and would have found a gap in the market for this type of film.

    Halloween movie was brought out near halloween which may have been a new apprach to horror movies as film makers and directors would have tested this to see if they would make more money and if the release date really mattered when releasing a film. Halloween was a popular film in the 70's and it would seem the audience had moved away from demon films.

    The trailer to this science fiction horror film begins with an emergancy call which would immediatly tell the audience this is a horror movie. A lot of special effects were used to make this movie the way it was. The thing was a great success with the idea that alien like monsters come out and hide themselves in other humans. This would have kept the audience on their edge of their seats making them wonder who was infected.

    TrailerSilence of the lambs is a story about a FBI agent who is out to find a serial killer. This movie is phycological as well as scary. Horror movies would have moved on from classic zombie killings to a more phycological horror and this was a great success. Film makers would have tried to look outside the box for a more thrilling horror movie which not only gives you nightmares but can also scare you in everyday life.

    Scream follows the story of a student who recieves phone calls from an unknown person asking her what her favourite scary movie is, soon after a masked man tries to murder her and her friends. Movies would have moved into more gorey films and would have used young attractive actors in order to encourage people to go and watch these films. This horror movie would also be seen as a comedy-horror as the masker murderer is comical

    Trailer 28 days later is a story about a man who wakes up from a coma after 28 days to find that there was an outbreak in the world and there is a deadly disease that turns humans into zombie like creatures. The movies have come back to the films about zombies and there are a lot of films about zombies taking over the world so this is a popular idea for horror films and there will always be different versions example, the crazies, 30 days of night, I am legend etc.

    Saw is a movie which took gorey horror movies to the extreme. Keeping hostages in a room and making them torture themselves until death was the new version of horror movies. While some loved the idea, many hated it and thought it was just sickening, Along with the gorey scenes there is also an investigation taking place which makes this film seem to be a lot more than just blood and guts. saw began it's own genre with this film.

    The story is about a young girl who goes to a yard sale with her father and see's a box. After buying the box she then opens it only to discover the box contains evil. This is one of the lastest horror movie that has come out. Horror movies now seem to like the idea of spirts and demonds as there are a lot of films about that are like this such as sinister. However this story seems to be based on a ture story.
