  • The first camera

    The first camera
    First camera was partially successfully built in 1816. It was built by a french inventor Joseph Nicephor Niepce. He is now accepted as the creator of photography.
  • The Bet..

    The Bet..
    Edward Muybridge and his friends made a bet. One said at least one hooves of a horse is on the ground while galloping, while the other said all four hooves come of the ground while galloping. Leland Stanford won the bet and won $25000 the motion picture showed the horses hooves all off the ground. This was the first motion picture he set it up by setting up multiple cameras and when the horse ran over the wire triggered the camera and took the picture.

    Paper film is used to record images. Made of transparent plastic. Has light sensitive crystals when a picture is taking the crystals absorb the light.

    The Lumiere Brothers created the projector. The Luniere Brothers were from France. In 1885 created a projector that showed motion pictures on a screen to people.

    The first movie with a narrative was produced in 1903. Edwin Porter created it. Porter was an employee of Edison's the movie was 12 minutes.
  • Nickelodeon

    Nickelodeon
    Nickelodeons were like the first version of movie theaters. By 1910 nickelodeons were averaging around 26 million viewers a week. Nickelodeons got more popular and made lots of money.
  • Talkies

    Talkies
    Talkies were films that had sounds. At first they thought it would be a failure and audiences wouldn't accept it. Late 1920s early 30s is when the technology started to develop and began being used.
  • Color Film

    Color Film
    Color in film was experimented with in 1912. But it wasn't until late 1930s that they were used in film. The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind both in 1939 were the first film with color.
  • HOLLYWOOD Block Buster era

    HOLLYWOOD Block Buster era
    Film creators moved to California because it had a better environment for filming. Cali had better weather also. So they moved over there and called it Hollywoodland at first but today it is just Hollywood. During the block buster era business was booming because of movies like Jaws, Star Wars and Alien.

    CGI
    CGI is computer generated images. CGI began to be used in films in 1980s. One of the best CGI's is Jurassic Park.
  • Film to Digital

    Film to Digital
    In the 2000s transition from film to digital began. By 2010 digital film became normal and used sparingly. Only a few directors keep the use of film alive.

    The Rest is History
    Today Hollywood still does blockbusters but they are more year around instead of summer. CGI is used in almost every movie. Superhero movies are box office juggernauts in this era of film.
