    in the year of 1878 Mr. Eadweard Muybridge had a bet that a horse had alll of his hooves off the ground at some point and all the men bet on the theory. So they got a bunch of cameras and took a bunch of pictures at the sametime like sports and they saw that the horse di indeed have all of his hooves off the ground during full sprint. So he was looking at the film strrip and was moving his head and saw that the picture moved which started film like we have today.

    The invention of the cinematographe was made public and was airing 30-60 second clips/short films and it shocked the world never seeing this type of echnology before. The cinematographes were basically a projector of the day. The films were a blockbuster in a simple, man falling off a horse and a train coming there way and a kid putting his hand in a fish bowl. This cinematographe was a big leap.

    The year 1891 the illusion of 'moving images'. Edison had invented the kinetoscope and it was basically a theater in a peephole. The con of the this kinetoscope was that you could only watch as a single audience and they made money off this idea because, it made them more money. And this whole thing was a illusion of a moving image in a kinetoscope.

    On December 28 of 1903. Thomas Edison's employee Edwin Porter created the first the first narrative film in the u.s. with the creation of The Great Robbery at the time was a big leap cause it was 11 minutes long and that's kinda crazy from 30-60 seconds. now it's 11 minutes and it was different, than any other. This film had different camera angles and different sequences of a narrative. And porters film had about 14 scenes.

    Around the 1900's vaudeville expanded to what we call nickelodeons, yeah like the channel. Why did we call them "nickel"odeons? Because it cost only a nickel. Nickelodeon was a store front theater that featured films. These were like a "movie" with a piano in the back and the fast pace movie like we know it and they had a vaudeville here and there.

    Well since the nickelodeon popularity hit it was all about the big profits and what's better to take all the money? Make a monopoly it was like taking a candy from a baby it was to easy. The motion picture patents company or aka mppc a bunch of companies formed together to run the competition out by threats to even attempt to make a film. When a film was attempted to be happening the mppc they would threaten and destroy equipment and break peoples bones! How was it possible to make business.

    The mppc really never recognized the actors nor credit them reason being is cause if they did give credit the actors would ask for more money and that would drain there profit. But other competition noticed if the actors were created that more people would pay to see the films.

    With the mppc at there every corner the competition had no chance and what's the next plan? You guessed it Hollywood it was perfect the scenery and and whether was perfect.

    The competition was all away from the mppc and they had there freedom. The move was huge is a lot of ways, films back then was usually filmed outdoors and usually New York did not support the lighting people wanted. The scenery was gorgeous from the beaches to the city it was perfect no rain perfect weather.

    What if the mppc found the competition what would they do well California is perfect not just for filming and scenery but retreat California is boarder by Mexico south of Mexico in the Calimexi region. So it was a win, win.

    During the the 1900's in 1910 nickelodeon theater was a hit attracting around 26 million a week and that's huge! After 5 years the number doubled which soon lead to a big popularity in films which gave a idea that you can make a big profit off of the films. And this all ended with a monopoly basically it was a own everything and rule the competition type of deal and Edison was all for it.
