The first stop animation is credited to J. Stuart Blackton and Albert E. Smith for Vitagraph's The Humpty Dumpty Circus which was released in 1898. The film was showed the day and light of the circus.

On December 5th it is the 100th anniverssary where Max Fleischer made a patent for the Rotoscope. This invention would eventually revolutionize the look of animated films. The rotoscope is old school motion capture frame by frame they would draw over a person.
