It was invented in 1831 by Joseph Plateau and with the help of Simon von Stampfer the phenakistoscope is a serise of images in a disc. then there are slots cut out of the disc on the same side as the drawing and it will be placed infront of a mirror and spun and you can see the illusions of the images.
