    In the 1950s a senator named Joseph McCarthy began to receive attention from Americans due to his deep passion about the government being corrupt with communist spies. Prior to this President Truman had ordered a through background check through his government. After a few men were found guilty McCarthy began proclaiming that he was "Americas only Salvation". February 9th in Virginia McCarthy gave a speech stating claims of communist activity. This speech set off an era of paranoia in America.

    Topeka, Kansas is home to a world famous event! Brown Vs BOE was the court case that represented the fall of segregation. In the 1950s a typical "Black School" would have consisted off outdated textbooks, and dusty nearly broken chairs. After bringing the Board of Education to court they ruled that segregation of public schools was a violation of the 14th admenment.

    Link text The Montgomery Bus Boycott was an act of civil rights in which African Americans refused to take city busses in Montgomery Alabama. This protest started as a result of Rosa Parks being arrested and fined for not giving up her seat to a white man. The US Supreme Court eventually called for Montgomery to integrate its transportation system.

    The US Supreme Court had made it legal to segregate schools in 1896 . However Black schools often didn't have the materials needed to have a good education. In 1957 nine black students were to attend central high school who hadn't had any black students before. On the first day of school they were harassed called names and treated very badly.     The Westerners used the wall as a way of getting rid of things, anything they didn't need they through it over the wall.

    Throughout the 1950's the Sylvia union had with kicking the US is but in the space race. Sensually President John F. Kennedy got frustrated and made the claim that US would have a man orbit Earth by the end of the decade. Kennedy's claim got America very excited. In 1962 John Glenn was the first American to orbit Earth.
