    Thomas Samuel Kuhn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 18th 1922. His parents were Samuel L. Kuhn and Minette Stroock Kuhn. "Thomas Kuhn’s academic life started in physics. He then switched to history of science, and as his career developed he moved over to philosophy of science, although retaining a strong interest in the history of physics."(Bird, 2018) He graduated from Harvard with a Master's Degree in Physics in 1946 and a doctrine in physics in 1949.

    After Graduating from Harvard, Thomas Kuhn became a professor at the University of California, Berkeley where he taught both philosophy and history of science. This is where he would discuss with co-workers about his theory and eventually published his book a year after accepting his position as a full time professor.

    Kuhn published a book in 1962 titled "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions." This book contained his theory of how science is developed. His theory has four phases which are:Normal science is how it sounds which is just scientists working through experiments. Model Crisis is when too many theories start to seem true and then this causes debate. Model Revolutionary is when new solutions evolve from model crisis. Lastly, a Paradigm Shift is when a new theory replaces an old one.

    Thomas Kuhn retired from teaching at the University of California, Berkeley in 1991. He then became a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge Massachusetts. Kuhn received many awards and was recognized by many organizations. For example, he was an elected member of the national academy of science. Thomas Kuhn died on June 17th, 1996 in Cambridge, Massachusetts from cancer.
