Health Timeline

  • Period: to

    20s

My focus in my 20s will be on healthy diet and excersize, and this greatly reduces risk of chronic disease later, and it is better to form these habits earlier on and maintain them than try and make them later. I will not smoke or drink and drive (though that applies at every age) and I will specifically focus on mental and emotional health, as well as sexual health and avoiding getting STDs.
  • Period: to

    30s

My focus in my 30s will be on diet. I will especially focus on weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, and sodium intake. I will also focus on sun exposure, physical stress, and skin care as preventative care. I will still need to be aware of my sexual health at this time, as STDs are still a very real possibility.
  • Period: to

    40s

The focus of this decade is preventative care. This includes maintainting a healthy diet and blood pressure to reduce the risk of heart disease, skin care to reduce the risk of cancer, deal with chronic pains such as arthritis and back pain. I will also have to focus on reducing stress and maintaining mental and emotional health, as that is a big problem at that time.
  • Period: to

    50s

This is also a decade to focus on prevfentative care, as the riak of chronic disease increases as you get older. This involves all the things listed in the previous decades for preventative care, including eating healthy and being physically active. I will also need to focus on mental and emotional health, not because of stress as in the 40s, but because this is the time that parents health is usually failing and children ususally move out.
  • Period: to

    60s

The focus goes back to physical avtivity in this decade, because any preventative measures taken now are already too late. Now I need to stay active and eat well, as well as monitor my own health and be sure to talk to my doctor about any problem, such as warning signs for heart attack or other disease. I need to make sure I maintain a healthy weight and stay active.
