    German imagrants to the US started using steel strings. Antonio's fan brace couldn't support the use of these strings, so they invented the x brace, whick allows the use of steel strings.

    In the early 1920's Oriville Gibson created an arch top guitar with f holes that more resembled a chello than a guitar. This desighn became known as the "Jazz Guitar"
