    Japan had decided to take over Manchuria because Japan was becoming crowed with its growing population and the limited size of the nation was small. Manchuria had more land making it a good idea to take over. Japan took over Manchuria in 1931 tying to expand their land due to overpopulation.

    On March 7 German troops marched into the Rhineland area on the orders of Hitler. This action was against the Treaty of Versailles, which had stated they were not allowed to go into Rhineland and Germany had agreed to the treaty. This was the first step toward Hitler's ''making Germany great again'' act.

    The Kristallnacht was event that took place in Germany that was against all Jewish people. In 2 days and nights more than 1000 synagogues were burned or damaged. Rioters had destroyed or looted about 7,500 Jewish businesses, killed at least 91 Jews and damaged any property that was owned by the Jews. This was known as a pogrom and was given the name ''Krishtallnacht''

    Canadian soldiers had gone to help their British colony in Hong Kong where the Japanese had attack during the night and won victory in defeating them. The Canadians who survived were held captive by the Japanese, they sent them to camps and were treated harshly. More than 260 Canadians died in the camps and they were forced to do labour work.

    The Japanese Navy Air Services gave a surprise to the U.S, when they attacked the Americans naval base at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii. The barrage lasted for about 2 hours and managed to destroy 20 American naval vessels, including 8 enormous battleships and more than 300 airplanes.

    The Battle of Stalingrad went from July 17, 1942 to Feb 2, 1943. Germans had tried to invade the Soviet Union but the Germans failed, making it the Soviets success in defense. Russians consider it is as their greatest battles and this battle was a turning point in the war in the favour of the Allies.

    The Dieppe Raid took place in the summer of 1942. It was where the Soviet had decided to raid on Dieppe from a French seaport on the English channel. The raid was a failure because as the Soviet soliders moved forward they met the German convoy.

Fighting for their allies, the Canadian forces were successful in taking over Ortona and won it back for Italy, which was taken over by Germany.

    On August 6, 1945 during the last stages of World War 2 the U.S had dropped an atomic bomb over the city of Hiroshima in Japan. It destroyed many lives and killed many, people lost their families and the ones that survived ended up with diseases and skin problems that they had to face in the future.
