Friedrich Engels was born on November 28, 1820, in Barmen, Prussia. Engels came from a well off family, His father owned a textile mill and was also a partner in a cotton factory in Manchester, England.

In 1841 Engels performed his military service in the Prussian Army as a member of the Household Artillery, where he was assigned to Berlin. during his stay in Berlin he attended lectures at the university, which influenced his life works.

Engles was discharged from service where he met Moses Hess who showed him the way and views of communism. Engels and Mess became very close and Mess placed the idea that textile mills would be a huge part in the revolutionizing of England's future. So, Engels moved back to England where his father's cotton textile mill is, to begin learning more about the business, and spent his nights a radical writer about communism and the conditions in England.

Frederick moved to Paris to meet with Marx, whom was in prior correspondence with Frederick, durinng his stay in Paris he helped Marx write "The Holy Family" which was an attack on the Young Hegelians and the Bauer brothers, the writings were published in late February 1845. .

during the revolution engels started writing for a newspaper in the city of Cologne with D Karl Schapper, Wilhelm Wolff, Ernst Dronke, Peter Nothjung, Heinrich Bürgers, Ferdinand Wolf and Carl Cramer Rheinische Zeitung on the revolutionary uprising in Cologne, Germany. The newspaper caused a big stir in the revolutions with numerous attempts to silence the writers.

After his good friend karl marx passed away, engels spent most of his time finishing up critiquing the works of Marx's Das kapital, he then passed away of throat cancer in London on 5 August 1895, at the age of 74,he was cremated at Woking Crematorium where his ashes were then scattered off Beachy Head, near Eastbourne as he had requested.
