Franz Peter Schubert was born on January 31st, 1797 in Vienna, Austria. He was the fourth son of a schoolmaster, Franz Theodor Schubert and Elizabeth Vietz was a domestic servant.

He was a really shy boy, so in his spare time, he would compose or practise alone. He was inspired to compose Gretchen am Spinnrade by reading Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust.

He composed symphonies No.2 to No.5. In 1817, he lived with his friend and he wrote some piano sonatas because he didnt own a piano.

In September, Schuber and his friend, Schober, left Vienna for writing Alfonso und Estrella. But when he came back, he met Edward Bauernfeld who showed him William Shakespeare works.

He became very ill and stayed in a Vienna hospital. Though, his sickness didn't stop him from playing music, he composed 4 great works.

He was never married because his family restricted it.

He started having a headache and nausea. He died from typhoid fever on November 19th of 1828.
