    Emmett Till
    Emmett Till was killed on August 28, 1955. He was lynched at the age of 14 in Mississippi for flirting with a white woman.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Montgomery Bus Boycott
    The Bus Boycott lasted for 380 days after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, led this boycott. He also created the MIA, Montgomer Improvement Associaton.
  • Little Rock Nine Integration of Schools

    Little Rock Nine Integration of Schools
    On this day the governor issued the Arkansas National Guard to prevent Africa-Americans from coming into the schools. Nine colored students went into the school. On the 20th, it was allowed to have whties and blacks mixed during school.
  • Sit-Ins

    In places where colored people were not allowed, negroes would sit in there and refuse to move. This caused so much violence, where the colored would not be able to fight back.   • March on Washington

    This is one of the largest political rallies that the United States of America has ever seen. This demanded economic and civil rights fro African-Americans.   • Selma to Montgomery Marches

    This started on the 7th lasting 18 days and ending on the 25th. African Americans marched 54 miles to Montgomery from Selma, Alabama.
