Victor moves to Ingolstadt

At the age of 17 Victor is ready for college at the university of Ingolstadt. So Victor moves to start studying science there.

Victors mom dies

Elizabeth caught severe Scarlet Fever and no one could be near her or else they could catch it as well. When Elizabeths mom tried to be there for her she ended up catching Scarlet Fever and passed away.

Victor in School

When Victor is at school, he focuses mostly on science especially chemistry. Victor gains the tittle of a scientist among the professors and some students.

Victor gets an Idea

As victor is at The University of Ingolstadt, Victor gets an the idea of creating life made up of dead parts. In order for Victor create life he goes to the cemetaries and takes the body parts he needs.

The Monster comes to life

After a lot of hard work put into Victors creation, he finally succeeds in bringing his creation to life. Victor wakes up one morning and sees it alive. (Pg. 56)

Victor is Disgusted by his creation

When Victor finally sees his creation and is immediately disgusted and afraid of his monster so he runs away. Victor is wandering around and soon Henry finds him wandering, Victor and Henry both go back to the apartment and find the monster missing.

Victor has been through a lot in these chapters and he has always been interested in science. In the last chapter we see Victor being a scientist even though the thing he wanted to create didn't turn out the way he wanted it to. I guess Victor developed as a character because he went from dreaming of being a scientist to actually being one.

Victors Return to Geneva

" Winter and snow arrived, the roads were deemed impassable...I felt this delay very bitterly, for I longed to see my native town and my beloved friends." (Page 67) Victor makes plans on visiting his family back in Geneva but his plans get delayed because of the weather. In this quote Victor Frankenstein Is thinking about his delay in visiting his family in Geneva.

Victor sees the Creature

"...its gigantic stature, and the deformity of its aspect, more hideous than belongs to humanity, instantly informed me that it was the wretch, the filthy demon to whom I had given life." (pg.73) Victor returns to Geneva because of his brothers death and is stuck outside because the gates are close. When Victor is outside of the gates he spots the creature.

Victor feels responsible for William's and Justine's deaths

"I beheld those I loved spent vain sorrow upon the graves of William and Justine, the first hapless victims to my unhallowed arts." (pg. 85) Frankenstein is expressing how he feels and how he feels responsible for Justine's and Williams deaths.

Victor thinks of killing himself

"This state of mind preyed upon my health...I shunned the face of man; all sound of joy or complacency was torture to me; solitude was my only consolation- deep, dark, deathlike solitude" (Page 86). Victor can't rest because he keeps on thinking about how he ruined the lives of so many. Victor falls into a deep depression.

Victor follows the monster into the mountains

" As he said this he led the way across the ice: I followed." (Pg 97). Frankenstein monster confronts victor and makes him talk to him. Victor talks to his creation and the monster walks into the mountains as Victor follows.

Story is Started

"It is with considerable difficulty that I remember the original era of my being; all the events of that period appear confused and indistinct. " (pg.98) The monster starts to tell Victor about how his life has been going and what he has done in this chapter. The monster starts the story with his earliest memory.

The monster explains his journey to Frankenstein

"I learned and applied the words 'fire' 'mik' 'bread' and 'wood'. I learned also the names of the cottagers themselves." (pg.107) The monster is still telling his story to Frankenstein. At this point the monster is telling Frankenstein about how he observed the De Lacey family.

The creature learns to speak properly

(Pg. 113) "My days were spent in close attention, that i might more speedily master the language; and I may boast that I improved more rapidly than the Arabian." At this point in the monster story, the monster is telling Victor how he was learning things.

The monster's feelings with Safie's backstory

"The government of France was greatly enraged at the escape of their victim and spared no pains to detect and punish his deliver. The plot of Felix was quickly discovered, and De Lacey and Agetha were thrown into prison." (pg.120) The monster tells us more about the De Lacey family here.

Character Development

In these chapters we mostly see Victor Frankenstein feeling guilty for all that has happened and the monster finds Victor and makes him listen to his story. Victor accepts that everything that has happened is his fault throughout the chapters 6-9. Another way he developed is because in past chapters he really listen and now that the monster has found him, the monster sits Victor down and makes him listen to his story.

The Monster tries to earn De Lacey's Trust

The Monster tries to earn De Lacey's trust first because he is blind and kind. One day while the others are out The Monster goes to talk to De Lacey but the others come home early and see the monster. When this happens Felix beats the monster and the monster returns to his hovel.

The Monster kills Williams

After the monster left his "family" he goes out and starts to look for Victor. On his way he gets shot when trying to save a little girl from drowning. The monster continues his journey to find Victor and spends a lot of time traveling. When the monster is looking for a place to stay he sees Williams, Victors younger brother and kills him.

The Monster Threatens Victor

In this chapter we are all caught up in the creatures story and are in the present. When all done with the monsters story, the monster tells Victor "make me a mate or I will destroy you." Victor agrees to make him his mate.

Victor Begins Making a Mate

Victor gets to Geneva and begins to work on the monsters mate right away. He then later leaves with Henry to London and spend the winter there.

Victor Continues working

Victor is still in London with Henry, Victor later tells Henry that they should go their own ways so Victor can work on the monsters mate but Henry doesn't know this. Victor leaves Henry and goes somewhere no one could see what he is doing.

Victor Destroys the Second Monster

Victor thinks long and hard about if he should or shouldn't finish the monsters mate, Victor gets frustrated and destroys the second creation in front of the monster. The monster gets mad and threatens Victor by saying "I shall be with you on your wedding-night"

Character Development

I think here Is where Victor has developed the most because he has learned from his past mistakes and knows what could happen if creates another monster. Once he thought of everything he decides to destroy the monster.

Victor sees Henry's Dead Body

"How can I describe my sensations on beholding it? I feel yet parched with horror, nor can I reflect on that terrible moment without shuddering and agony." (169) This quote explains when Victor expresses his feelings of terror and anguish when Henry's dead body is presented to him; he was killed by the creature. Victor's experience grieving over his dead friend reveals a long lasting theme of monstrosity that is an effect of Victor's creation.

Victor Marries Elizabeth

"We passed rapidly along; the sun was hot, but we were sheltered from its rays by a kind of canopy while we enjoyed the beauty of the scene, sometimes on one side of the lake, where we saw Mont Saleve, the pleasant banks of Montalegre, and at a distance surmounting all, the beautiful Mount Blanc and the assemblage of snowy mountains that in vain endeavour to emulate her..." This quote shows the attachment Victor still holds to nature and the love that he has dedicated to his new wife.

Elizabeth Dies

The monster tells Victor to prepare himself because he is going to kill Elizabeth. Victor knows the monster will come so he stays outside hoping to intercept the monster before he gets to Elizabeth, but in doing so he gives the monster an easy way to get in through the window during Victors absence."Suddenly I heard a shrill and dreadful scream." (Pg.196)

Character Development

By the end of the book Victor has died but he he wanted revenge on the monster for his family. Throughout the whole book Victor has been through a lot and I believe all that has made him stronger and that is why he wants revenge on the monster.

Walton and his Crew Continue looking For the Monster

“Many of my unfortunate comrades have already found a grave amidst this scene of desolation” (203) The knowledge of the Monster’s existence drove Walton to continue his search for it further north into the arctic, endangering the lives of many of the crew on board. This knowledge furthered his ambition to do something significant and was why he continued pushing the boat further north even after it was unsafe to continue.
