    U.S Fish Commissions is started. It is started by congress. Spencer Baird is nominated to be the 1st commissioner. Was started to study the decline in food fishes and promote fish culture.
  • Lacey Act

    The Lacey Act becomes the 1st federal law protecting all game and the removal of illegaly taken wildlife and importation of species.
  • Bird Reservation

    Created by president Theodore Roosvelt on Pelican Island in Florida. In 1942 Pelican Island and other early reservations were made into national wildlife refuges.
  • Regulated

    The Migratory Bird Act is passed. Saying that migratory birds being hunted are going to be regulated
  • Duck Stamp Act

    Duck Stamp Act
    This Act states that all waterfowl hunters are to buy stamps saying they are legally taken birds. The revenues from these stamps go back into producing more refuges.
  • Pittman-Robertson Act

    This act states that Federal Aid will be assisted. The budget of this today is now 2.2 billion dollars
  • New Name

    The new names of the agency from the U.S Fish Commisions and Deparment of Agriculture became into the Fish and Wildlife service. Over the years the cause of this agency has never changed.

    Dan Ashe
    Dan Ashe is currently the currently the director of this agency. He is the 16th commissioner.

    16.5 million dollars in grants was given to the Fish and Wildlife service
